Why I built this

Hi — I'm Brian. I teach middle school in Richmond, I bounced back into tennis after a long break, and about ten seconds after making USTA 4.5 I ran into the same wall every other rec player knows: finding someone to hit is harder than the tennis. Group texts, half-answered replies, "let me check my calendar," and by Thursday the whole plan has quietly evaporated.

Let's Hit is my attempt at removing that friction. Post when you're free, the app emails only the people at your level in the areas you actually play. Someone taps accept. You pick a court together. You play.

Who it's for

Adult singles players in the Richmond area — casual hits and casual matches both. If you have a rating (USTA or UTR, official or self-rated), you're the target audience. It's built around the way people I know actually play: 1-on-1, weeknights and weekends, at whatever court is convenient.

It's completely free. No ads, no paid tier, no data resale. It's a side project run on a small VPS. If it stays useful and small, that's the goal.

What's here

• Post a hit request with the dates and areas that work for you.
• Get emailed when someone at your level posts one that matches.
• A tennis rating that adjusts as you play (blends your USTA with match results here).
• A ladder for people who like to see the numbers move.
• Away mode when you travel, cadence controls if you get too many emails, a day/time filter for when you actually want to play.

What's coming

I ship small updates every couple of weeks based on what real Richmond players ask for. Recent adds: away mode, .ics calendar attachments, a day/time notification filter, better email one-click controls. On the near horizon: richer court info (surface, lights, access) on every court display, and small quality-of-life fixes.

I'm intentionally keeping this app small and Richmond-focused. Multi-city expansion, doubles, in-app chat — those would be different products.
